Reporting to the ASLM CEO/Designee, the Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the organizational administration and financial function and work on process improvement. This is a very “hands-on” role, requiring strong accounting skills for both analysis and reporting, and project management. The candidate will focus on planning, implementing and managing the Finance department. He/she develops and leads the execution and monitoring of the finance administration plan, and supervises the staff in the department. He/she must demonstrate strong reporting skills both to internal and external stakeholders.


The Senior Finance Manager will :

  • Implement general administration and accounting practices across multiple countries;
  • Maintain, reconcile, and monitor ASLM accounts worldwide, internal control processes, and procedures in accordance with ASLM policies and provisions;
  • Be responsible for managing daily office operations, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, acting as primary liaison ASLM’s offices, developing and overseeing standard operating procedures;
  • Design, develop, modify, and maintain project financial, contractual, and administrative procedures, as well as systems and tools to support effective and compliant implementation of activities;
  • Manage ASLM’s revenue cycle and cash flow;
  • Manage payment accounts for sustaining donors; reconcile donor accounts with accounting records for accurate reporting;
  • Conduct internal financial audit and coordinate external ones;
  • Oversee and review work plan budgeting, budget tracking, and financial communication/reporting processes and system
  • Supervise ASLM payroll processing operations and staff to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing;
  • Work with third-party billing vendors to ensure efficient third-party billing processes and timely reimbursement;
  • Answer inquiries, provide information, and address customer inquiries in a manner that requires the use of significant judgment and interpretation of policies, rules and procedures;
  • Work closely with all external partners including third-party vendors and consultants;
  • Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales;
  • Other responsibilities, as agreed with the CEO/designee.


The candidate will need to exhibit the following skills and experience:

  • Seven to ten years of accounting, financial analysis, planning, and business support experience required
  • Prior experience in working with U.S. government grants and cooperative agreements
  • Experience working with international and global accounting practices
  • Very strong life-cycle accounting skills
  • Very strong financial modeling and analysis skills
  • Ability to consolidate, synthesize and report on large amounts of financial data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and act in a consultative role
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong process and time management skills
  • Strong technology skills; Familiarity with a wide variety of financial systems is a plus
  • Fluency in in English is required. Knowledge of French would be an added advantage.
